Our Founder

Pastor Benjamin Smith, Sr.,
"Our Tribute"
Pastor Benjamin Smith, Sr., Founder Deliverance Evangelistic Church

On Friday, March 22, 2002, the news spread around the world, "The Christian Family has lost it's Best Leader, Pastor, Preacher, Friend, and Neighbor, "The Rev. Dr. Benjamin Smith, Sr. He loved people, preaching, teaching, counseling, the community, the needy, the well, the shut-in, prisoners and especially The Word of God through Jesus Christ and the moving of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Smith had distinguished his Christian life with much prayer, fasting, studying and applying the Word to his own life. He allowed God to use him to reach people around the world by radio, television, satellite, his books, videos, audio cassettes and travels.

His central theme was;

  • "Follow me as I follow Christ"
  • "All you need is Jesus Christ and God will do the rest"
  • "Get your soul right with God"
  • "By the Word of God, and by obedience to His principles, then the heart will be cleansed from sin"
  • "For Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God"
  • "It is written, Man shall not live by brad alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" Matthew 4:4

Pastor Smith was a great motivator of God's truth. He quoted many times "and you shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free" John 8:36. When you think of the Word of God, you will also think of Pastor Benjamin Smith, if you have ever heard him speak.

Pastor Smith exhibited much patience and longsuffering while working with people. I know this wasn't easy, but God gave him the power to serve. He is greatly missed. His words will continue in our hearts for he has pointed us to Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith Hebrews 12:2. We Thank God for giving us Pastor Smith who has been a great influence on all our lives.
